Prize Values

Total prize value of all winnings for the 12 week contest will equal 50% of the value of all tickets sold during the 12 weeks.

Details of how the 50% will be divided among winners are as follows:

10% goes to the Grand Prize winner: The Grand prize winner at the end of the 12 week contest will receive 10% of the value of all tickets sold.

10% goes to the weekly “Sport Chaser”: Each week one ticket will be randomly drawn from all tickets sold that week. The owner of that ticket (The Sport Chaser) will automatically receive 10% of the value of that weeks ticket sales.

20% to “first match” winners: Each week 20% of ticket sales for that week will be set aside for the “first match” payout. In the event that no match occurs, the amount will be rolled forward to the next weeks draw. This will continue until a “first match” occurs. When a “first match” occurs, the “Sport Chaser” for that week will receive the “first match” prize payout (20% of sales for that week plus any previous “first match” amounts that have rolled forward).

5% to “second match” winners: Each week 5% of ticket sales for that week will be set aside for the “second match” payout. In the event that a second match does not occur, the 5% amount will be rolled forward to the next weeks draw. This will continue until a “second match” occurs. When a “second match” occurs, the “Sport Chaser” for that week will receive the “second match” prize payout (5% of sales for that week plus any previous “second match” amounts that have rolled forward.

5% to third match winners: Each week 5% of ticket sales for that week will be set aside for the “third match” payout. In the event that a third match occurs, the amount will be rolled forward to the next weeks draw. This will continue until a “third match” occurs. When a “third match” occurs, the “Sport Chaser” for that week will receive the “third match” prize payout (5% of sales for that week plus any previous “third match” amounts that have rolled forward. 

Rules

  1. Purchasers must be at least 19 years of age. Tickets cannot be purchased in the name of a minor. Tickets must be purchased within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  2. All persons may purchase tickets. However, Staff and Board members of Sport NL and their immediate family (defined as spouse and children residing with them) are not eligible to claim/win any prizes.
  3. Pursuant to the regulations governing this lottery under authority of Services NL, Consumer Affairs Division, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, tickets must be purchased within the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  4. Personal information collected will be used to fulfill ticket orders, contact prize winners and publicize the names of prize winners. The Great Sport Chase Lottery does not sell, trade or lease your personal information. Winners consent to the use of their name and photograph by the licensee for publicity purposes. The liability of the licensee of this lottery shall be limited to the purchase price of the ticket.
  5. All disputes will be settled by “The Board” of “Sport NL”, all decisions are final.
  6. If for any reason a ticket stub is not included in the appropriate draw, our “Sport NL” liability is limited to the purchase price of the ticket only, Sport NL will make every reasonable effort to ensure that no tickets are excluded.
  7. The name and contact information provided on the online ticket purchase order form shall be considered the owner of all ticket numbers assigned to that purchase.
  8. Ticket sales for each of the 12 weekly draws will close at 11 a.m. NST on each weeks draw date (one hour before the actual draw).
  9. Throughout the contest period, weekly draws will occur on each Thursday at 1pm NST.
  10. These weekly draws will be aired on the same evening on the NTV evening news.
  11. Ticket sales will reopen for the next weeks draw at 7 p.m. NST on the same evening.
  12. For each weekly draw, one ticket will be randomly selected by means of a manual draw from all tickets purchased that week. The owner of that ticket will be that week’s designated “Sport Chaser”. NOTE: The randomly selected “Sport Chaser” is determined by means of a manual ticket draw will not be present at the draw.
  13. The game includes four identical decks with 45 cards. Each of the 45 cards (in each deck) represents one of the 45 participating sports. The blue deck is the home deck and the red, green and yellow decks are the away decks.
  14. The Sport Marshall will shuffle all four decks independently and lay the decks face down on the playing surface.
    1. The top card from the blue (Home Deck) will be turned face up. The revealed sport will be the “home sport” for that draw.
    2. The Sport Marshall will then proceed to turn up the top card from each of the other three “away decks”, revealing a sport for each deck.
    3. If one or more of the 3 “away deck” sports matches the “home sport”, the Sport Chaser” is a winner and claims the prize value as described for that week.
    4. NOTE: If two or more of the “away cards” match each other, but do not match the “home sport”, there is no win for that week.
  1. Each week, at the end of the draw, the four sports that have been revealed in the draw will be removed from the deck for the next weeks draw.
  2. In the event that two or more of the revealed cards match, an equivalent number of cards will be randomly selected via a manual draw from the home deck and those sports will be removed from all decks (always resulting in a total of four sports removed each week).
  3. Each week, only the tickets sold in that week will be included in the random manual draw to identify the “Sport Chaser” for that weekly draw.
  4. For the grand prize draw at the end of the 12 weeks, all tickets sold over the entire 12 week period will be eligible to win the grand prize.
